Teaching and Learning

Recently, Chris has taken an interest in learning about photography. I am pretty psyched that he wants to learn what I do! So last night I explained some basics- aperture and shutter speed and how those work together, how to read the light meter in the camera, white balance, and ISO. I showed him how to adjust all of this on the camera he is going to use for learning. Well, explaining and listening are one way to learn, but even better is getting out and practicing! So today we set out to get in some good practice!

After a quick review on all the basics, he stuck the camera in manual and just dove right in to snapping photos! I was really impressed.

Here is a shot of me taken by Chris and processed by me. He's not much interested in learning about processing just yet if at all, he says. I don't mind! I think he did a fantastic job today!

Of course, I couldn't go without also snapping some photos myself! So I'll leave you with my favorite shot of Chris from the day. Love him!
